Arsenal have confirmed, as per reports by the Guardian, that Jack Wilshere is set to undergo a surgery for a hairline fracture in his left leg which will rule him out of action for the coming three months.

Arsene Wenger had confirmed last week that Wilshere had suffered a setback in his scheduled recovery suffered during pre season but now further medical examinations have confirmed that the player needs to undergo an operation in order to recuperate.

As per reports from Arsenal’s official website, Wilshere is set to undergo a surgery in London in the upcoming days which will involve inserting a small plate in his left fibula. It has also been pointed out that the decision has been taken after regular reviews by specialists, who felt that the 23 year old’s rehabilitation was not progressing as expected.

Wenger too seemed disappointed with the latest setback but claimed that he is positive on how the current season will pan out. The The Frenchman also stressed the importance of other squad players keeping him Wilshere upbeat, “I hope that Jack’s body stabilises. I am confident it will and he will make a career of the kind he deserves. It’s just a part of his bone that has not healed. This kind of injury is not career-damaging.”

Arsenal’s misery with injuries seem to be never ending with Danny Welbeck too being on the sidelines. Club captain Mikel Arteta however is expected to resume training while German defender Per Mertesacker has just recovered from a virus after earlier being involved in a minor road traffic accident on Monday.

The Gunners have travelled to Croatia to take on Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night in the Champions League group stage campaign. How far will the London side go in Europe’s club competition this campaign?
