Arsenal’s wretched luck with injuries this season continues. Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey who scored a stunning goal in the Champions League against Galatasaray on Wednesday has been ruled out for four weeks after picking up a hamstring injury.

Ramsey was in inspired form against the Turkish side but was withdrawn at half-time after complaining of tightness in his hamstring. It was believed that the 23 year old will be fit to face Newcastle United in the weekend but scans have revealed that the player will miss out for four weeks. It comes as a major setback for Ramsey, who hasn’t had a great season, but was slowly getting back to his best.

Manager Arsene Wenger now has a selection dilemma against the Magpies. Youngster Calum Chambers is suspended for the clash after being sent off last week against Stoke City while both Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal are also out with injuries. Frenchman Mathieu Debuchy who is available after a lengthy spell in the sidelines in central defence. Left Kierean Gibbs is fit after hip trouble and midfielder Mathieu Flamini has also shaken off his calf injury.

Wenger said, “Koscielny and Monreal are definitely out. Chambers is suspended and Ramsey is injured. We got the scan result [on Ramsey] last night. He was getting close to his form of last season. Koscielny has a calf strain. It might be linked with the fact he has maybe over-protected his achilles.”

“The inflammation has not gone completely on one side. Defensively, I have 24 hours to think about it and I will find a solution for the Newcastle game. We have to play somebody with almost no experience [in central defence] or somebody who is not used to playing in the position.”

Arsenal are also without key players Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Mikel Arteta and Thomas Rosicky.
