Arsenal Fan’s View: How will the Gunners fare against Manchester United?

Arsenal Fan’s View: How will the Gunners fare against Manchester United?

Playing away at Anfield will always be one of the biggest games in a league calendar, however ask any Arsenal fan and they would say that yesterday’s game was not the most important one Arsenal will play in these short time period. The most important game for Arsenal has, and always will be the game against Manchester United- ie the one coming up on November 3rd.

Local rivals Tottenham provide a source of amusement, but quite frankly aren’t very good; Manchester United Football Club provide a match that can both be challenging to the extreme (see last season’s two games) while also occasionally thrown up the odd amusing moment (ie Fergie getting whacked in the face with a slice of pizza). While Liverpool are a team that will challenge for Europe, the real team that Arsenal will have to do well against if they want to win the title is Manchester United, and I’m sure all the players and the fans know this.

After yesterday’s draw, Manchester United cut the gap at the top to just goal difference and the game in hand; should they pull off a win next week then they will be three points ahead with the game in hand (ie level). While this would not be the worse scenario, as Arsenal would still have a chance to do level should they beat Newcastle; it must not be allowed to happen.

Once Manchester United get in front, they rarely, if ever relinquish their grip on the title, so what this youthful Gunner side must do is win. Unfortunately, as the game is at home I fear it may have a negative effect on the team- I would have much preferred it to be at Old Trafford.

Normally games being at home (in this case the Emirates Stadium) is good for a team, however here I feel it may work against us. With this advantage, Arsenal will surely be expected to come off better of the two sides- however I don’t think that any Gooner would be displeased with a draw.

Why? Well, since Manchester United are away from home, and risk being destroyed by our brand of attacking football if they decide to come out and attack, they will try to kick us off the park- I guarantee this. Liverpool tried this a few times yesterday- most noticeably the angelic Jamie Carragher, who should have been sent off after his tug in the penalty box and his elbow on Eboue, however Manchester United are far ‘better’ – most Arsenal fans (and Jose Reyes in particular) will remember the day where they pulled off a win after not even attempting to play football.

Manchester United are one of the best teams in the world at going forward, but not even they can match Arsenal at its finest. If Arsenal play the football that everyone knows they are capable of, they will have a very good chance of winning next week. If Arsenal play the football that everyone knows they are capable of, and take at least 50% of the chances they make… they will thrash Man Utd.

Sadly, everyone knows Arsenal’s weak point is their finishing- despite them having scored the most goals in the league this season, they could have scored a lot, lot more had they taken more of the chances like the two sitters they passed up against Liverpool – it was not the first time this year they have missed such easy chances, and it will certainly not be the last. Manchester United on the other hand create fewer chances every game, but score a higher percentage of them.

For the team news, it is hard to see who will play. It is likely we will see a similar formation as yesterday – ie 4-5-1 with Adebayor up top on his own, and as that worked well last season there is no reason why it won’t this. Adebayor has played far worse than he is capable of these last few games but let’s hope he puts in a similar performance to the one he did last year at Old Trafford, where he terrorized their back four for the full ninety minutes, culminating of course in that late winner.

It will be good to see the likes of Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner on the bench; I do feel they are up to the task, and will prove themselves worthy should they be required to come on and change the game. I’m sure the writers on Soccerlens who support Manchester United will have their say soon enough so I’ll try not to keep you waiting; let’s hope that they do not try to irritate y’all as much as I hope to do :D

Prediction: 2-1 win for the Gunners.

You can follow the Arsenal v Manchester United game live here on Soccerlens on Saturday.

3-1 to United. Arsenal will get beaten without a doubt, they cant win against us as long as they only play with Adebayor up front. Fabregas will see who the best midfielder in the PL is on saturday. ANDERSON!!! Wayne, Cristiano and Vidic to score. COME ON YOU REDS!

  2. This “if Arsenal play as they can” sort of talk is nonsense. Every team play as their opponents allow them. I could say that if Vidic and Ferdinand perform to the level we know they are capable of Arsenal will never score and if Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo produce that kind of form that they have shown in recent weeks, Arsenal will be thrashed.

But it’s never that simple, fortunately, otherwise it would be boring. The Hargreaves-Fabregas battle will of course be vitally important but I think the form of the strikers could decide that. Van Persie out, Adebayor suffering after a brilliant start while Tevez and Rooney are on fire – so I would say a draw would be a very good result for the Gunners.

And please stop this nonsense about us kicking Arsenal off the park. Winning while not even attempting to play football – well, the 2005 FA Cup final irresistibly comes to my mind. We can match Arsenal in attack, just look at the goals scored column last season so if both teams decide to go for it (they won’t) then it could well be a 4-4 draw. But not Arsenal thrashing United as many smug Gunner seem to believe. Our only chance is not kicking you (or any other team) off the park: if it was so, we would never have won the league.

As a Gooner I hope we’ll win, whatever the outcome it should be a fantastic match as both teams want to play football. I think the “kicking ” thing stems from Gary Neville getting away with booting Reyes up in the air for 60mins a few years ago, I can’t see it happening again because neither player is playing.

  4. 30/10/2007 Warri Gooner

In your dreams, RedDevil, in your dreams.

  5. that was the most bias kaKa i have ever seen. i can gara-DAMN-tee that rooney will score and most of your atacks will be broken down by hargreaves and our defence while our attack will rip you limb from limb.

  6. 30/10/2007 dzimbi

hahaha. Ryan. you need to wake the f**k up and realise that united are clearly being eclipsed by arsenal this season. dont be jealous. they are slightly better than man utd this season but better nonetheless. you wont take anything away from the emirates. stop talking about the goals you scored last season. you are beginning to rest on ur laurels like liverpool fans.

this season the title is going to the gunners and this weekends game will probably be taken by the gunners with a 3 – 1 score line.

  7. 30/10/2007 SpiralArchitect

It all comes down to the fact that we are missing RVP badly. Defensively we are pretty jittery as well but hopefully the recent lessons at Anfield will help Wenger reinforce the message – ‘Good offense may win matches, but poor defense will lose them’. I just made that one up btw.

I wouldn’t be too awed at United’s thrashing of Middlesborough. In the past Arsenal have shown that they LOVE playing against that same team & some of our best results have come against a team like that. 2 of the goals from that game came from poor defensive mistakes & i would like to think that Arsenal’s back-four are a hell of a lot better than that!

Again, i expect the goals from mid-field. SAF was in the crowd at Anfield & if i were him i’d think about neutralizing the likes of Hleb & Fabregas.

Weaknesses of United? Most likely their midfield. Yes its packed with well known names that have been bandied about in the press for their skill but i think its only JUST coming together whereas the Arsenal midfield has been scintillating since the start of the season.

    Basic tactics for Arsenal?

1.Stop the shots coming from outside the box against our goal

    2.Get better at defending set-pieces/corners

3.Create & sustain a passing game that was better than the one against Liverpool (we were off our rhythm in that match). Flamini/Gilberto really need to win back possession of the ball consistently because that’s where we can break-up Utd attacks to our best advantage.

4.Keep piling on the pressure (its what we’re good at!)

5.Be a HELL of a lot quicker on the counter-attack. This last one is important as it is one of the major things that we are the best in the League at if all players are clicking well together. Compared to the ‘Invincibles’ era we are still agonisingly slow in this department & i think we could really open up a huge lead if we worked on this part of our game.

Main battle will be psychological i think. If we go 1-2 goals down we have to show a resurgence & fighting spirit worthy of our reputation.

  8. 30/10/2007 HorSinn

ManUnited might win, because they knew how to kick and play dirty. I rememeber Ronnie dived to earn a penalty to end Arsenal 49 game unbeaten run.

  9. Arsenal kids are getting too cocky and too ahead of themselves…besides u have the fans who are already stating they will win the title at such an early stage which is added pressure on the kids…. being over confident at such an early stage will lead to downfall…besides have you thought how arsenal will fare if they lost fabregas for a month or so on injury….. ur gonna need a lot of luck to win this marathon….

    May the best team win!

I reckon Man utd to score first thru vidic in the 1st half from a corner…arsenal come all guns blazing in the 2nd to score an equalizer and then Utd nicking it in the 85th min ..
    2-1 United

  10. 30/10/2007 brandon

man i am nervous about this game even though im not playing. this shows how much good of a game this will be. i just hope man u doesnt lose. i hope they at least tie. arsenal is just too good this year (as i have been saying this all over the site) but man u is still my fav team

  11. 1. We beat Utd twice last season without playing anything close to the football we are playing currently. Sure, Utd beat up on the lesser teams significantly better than we did last year to win the title, but we aren’t one of those teams. It’s Utd that have it all to prove after losing to us home and home last year.

    2. Utd fans – don’t act like you haven’t tried to rough Arsenal up in the past. The game that ended the 49 unbeaten streak wasn’t the only time you’ve gone that route. That SAF doesn’t employ that tactic against most teams doesn’t deny that simply fact. Undoubtably that is what Fergie will have taken away from the Liverpool game.

    3. Arsenal will win comfortably 3-1.

  12. 30/10/2007 dickson

lol bunch of gooners getting high early on. i’ll say this, both united and arsenal are in terrific form and the game may swing either way. and stop all this nonsense about us “kicking” you. all of u sound like young messi and fabregas whining about “anti-football”. Football is a competitive sport. roughing up opponent is fair and square, we are quite capable of play beautiful football and we are ALSO capable of roughing it up with the best of them.

If being kick and roughing things up is a weakness a team suffers from, it is only logical that opponent would target your weakness. so stop all this whining..for example if a player display their injury by wrapping up his thigh with wraps, u can be damn sure they’re gonna get lots of attention on that wrapped up thigh.

it’s competitive sport. what do u expect?

  13. 30/10/2007 dickson

    playing*

  14. im going to laugh my ass of at all you arsenal fans this weekend when you start to make excuses about why you where the loosers. i can see it now, “the ref didnt make the call” “they kept on diving” “fabregas had an off-game” “we were unlucky-it wasnt our day” and of course my fav”if you didnt have(insert man utd player name here) you would of lose”

  15. 30/10/2007 KingOfZamunda

dzimbi- such harsh words?? You lot were much the better team against Liverpool but how come you still walked away with a draw? Furthermore, you’ve played sub-standard opposition to date which has made Arsenal look better than most (I do concede that Arsenal have played fantastic stuff this season, sub-standard opposition or not), Liverpool fall under that category as well, I kid you not; United have played some blinding stuff as well, in every match bar Roma & Pompey we have looked by far the superior team, you could not have said that of the Bolton visit at The Emirates, they gave you a rough time and you didn’t walk all over ‘em, so I say again, you guys have played some good stuff but it’s early days yet for everyone to be creaming themselves everytime they read Arsenal.
I won’t carp on about United thrashing Arsenal either, I don’t think either team will thrash the other, in all seriousness I feel it’ll be boiled down to a draw. Nuff Said.

  16. 30/10/2007 KingOfZamunda

And bobc? Rough football or not, ending the 49 game unbeaten run and all that piss poor nonsense don’t mean diddly squat, if you know a team will be looking to rough you up, unsettle you in every area of the field then you react accordingly, it is the true hallmark of a good footballing team for fugzsakes, to overcome the opposition and not whinge about this and that- we have Cris Ron who gets kicked all over the park, players actively target him, we acknowledge it and get on with it, and give some back given the opportunity- GROW SOME BALLS YOU KEE ANTS!!!
Furthermore, you, like many other Arsenal fans I know, obviously took the double over United last season to be a real achievement, I mean you lot didn’t win anything else did you? ‘06/’07, the season we Gooners did the ‘Double’ over United- I’ve even heard crap like “oh, at least we didn’t lose to United, don’t care if we didn’t win anything else, at least we didn’t lose to them”- punks the lot of you, grow some balls and weather the riding you get from teams. And don’t be going on about rough play when Fabregas & Co are partial to the theatrical form, again, the Bolton game is a good example of that, rolling around all over the place, but hey Arsenal fans don’t see anything do they? Much like their mercurial and blind manager Wenger..

  17. 30/10/2007 KingOfZamunda

And enough already with these insane predictions- it is too early to say that Arsenal/United will win the title, Chelski may even still be in it, what with the ass f*cking they gave to the squatters. And same goes for predicting a wild scoreline for United v Asss ‘n all come November 3rd.
Sheesh, some se-heee-ri-us-leee dum peeps taking over the shop… The bum boys did the double over United last season- yippeee ka yay, knock yourselves out, shoot your load and effin grow up, that’s at bobc and dzimbi in particular, 2 runts of the highest order.

  18. 30/10/2007 KingOfZamunda

And, whilst I’m at it, sheesh, I’ll be hitting double figures soon- Jason? Good article mate, just one point to note, that bit about Arsenal thrashing us if they hit top gear and put away all their chances? Same can be said of United, even more so with the backline we have. Still a good read mate, keep up the good work!

  19. KoZ,

    1. Yes, we shouldn’t let thug tactics stop us from winning. But it isn’t football at its finest either so those of you who champion it are being silly. It isn’t about having or ‘growing balls,’ it is about an appreciation for the game being played at a high level. And you missed the point anyway, which is that Utd fans should stop denying (as several did earlier in the thread) that SAF has employed this tactic against us in the past both successfully (PizzaGate) and unsuccessfully (Old Trafford title loser).

    2. As far as winning both games against Utd last season goes, no one has said that was like winning a trophy. I bring it up merely to remind people that despite Utd winning the title last season they lost convincingly twice to us. So whether or not you beat mid and low table teams with more consistency than we did last year, that isn’t relevant to a straight up matchup. Our most recent head to head record is the most relevant variable to look at – and there we obviously have the edge.

    3. Grow up.

  20. as usual glory hunting manchester united fans would like to keep saying how good they are, and not respect any other team in the world.

  21. 30/10/2007 el-insaciable

It’s rather comical with all these wild predicictions of certain victories to either side. They are rubbish really. When two teams as great and complete as United and Arsenal clash it will come down to who has the better day.

Regarding the article I enjoyed reading it quite a bit. I tend to like getting some different perspectives and this was no different. It has already been mentioned but the ‘if-we-play-as-we-are-capable-of’ lot is kidding themselves, great teams (and both Arsenal and Manchester United undoubtedly qualify as great teams) won’t allow you to play as you’re capable of; that’s part of making them great.

Secondly, Adebayor didn’t terrorize our defense at Old Trafford last season. He was arguably the worst player on the pitch untill he scored that late winner. He has improved dramatically since then, but it was a poor point none-the-less.

  22. 30/10/2007 ayanle

Man utd will beat arsenal. last season arsenal did beat manchester united but what did u gain. apart from point. this weekend will different because one we have a better team. ronaldo will take care of clichy and rooney will destory toure and tevez will piss on gallas and giggs or nani will show sagna or eboue. anderson will show fabregas the real way to play a passin game and hargreaves will show gilberto how to break up attacks. ferdinand and vidic will be soild and brown will play his normal game and evra will put the ball through hleb legs again will a magic skill. and van der sar will show alumina how to be a sucessful goalkeeper. alex ferguson clever tactics will show arsene wenger why he is better than him. enough said. 3-0 rooney scoring 2 goals and anderson with a amazing run and rounding the goalkeeper for his first goal for manchester united.

  23. 30/10/2007 dickson

the comments being posted are distasteful… both from united side and arsenal.. although my allegiance lies with united.. arsenal are a good footballing side, and players like toure, fabregas, rvp and gallas are good. lets just wait till the next week and enjoy the show!

  24. 30/10/2007 Boom! Gunners!

There are too many bandwagon jumpnig ManU fans pissed that people are bandwagon jumping on Arsenal now. ManU is the only true threat to Arsenal’s aspirations and vice versa.
Liverpool have shown their true colors squeaking out ties and losing to lesser teams.

The reason everyone on this site is waging so hard for either ManU or Arsenal is because this is the title race. These two teams are really all we will be talking about for the rest of the year. Arsenal have risen from the ashes of two fourth place finishes and ManU is ManU.

It’s a two pony show. Everybody get used to it.

  25. About me being cocky… well, I do agree but why not when it’s so easy to get a rise out of you United fans, eh? :D

As for the title race, how decent to see a title competed between two PROPER (and I’ll concede that about Utd) teams playing for it; while they might play Bolton-esque football at teams, the main principle of each team is to attack. Much better than some of the dross Chelsea serve up (although that was not the case against Citeh, of course :p)

  26. it’s funny how everyone discusses about the game, insulting players from the other teams. As we all know both teams are just great and anyone could win. I think arsenal is just passing a good time, but manchester united have key players that might make the difference. why discuss so much? just wait for the game and later discuss about it :D

  27. the guy who starts saying so n so team is gonna win the league so early into the season is a moron .. teams will do well now since not many players are injured at the moment but the months of April & May show the true character of each team .. there are many ifs & buts possible in the game .. Man Utd won a few matches due to poor refereeing some times .. so what .. don’t tell me that Arsenal haven’t won dubious decisions earlier .. let me remind you .. it all evens out at the end.
this weekend’s game depends a lot on the Fabregas v Hargreaves battle .. Van Persie’s injury is a big blow to Arsenal but then Scholes, Saha, maybe Carrick & Neville(Saha will always be in the list anyways) are also out .. if some gooner blames RVP’s absence for Arsenal’s performance in the match, he badly needs a brain transplant.
I start following football quite late .. I support Man Utd(it was the first club that I had seen playing and then I saw the 1999 UEFA-CL final) .. hate to admit it(being a Man Utd fan) but there are days when Arsenal’s football makes me burn with jealousy.
finally, grow up kids :-) time to watch two of the world’s best attacking teams(Barcelona have been boring for some time now) play against each other .. it would be better if you discuss team tactics for the game instead of old games, kicking tactics & ifs+buts

  28. 30/10/2007 BeckhamUnited

United 5 – Arsenal 1… Just like how england beat germany!!….

  29. its not even funny, your just a piss taker.

  30. 30/10/2007 Jeremy

    Ha
this must be from a super arsenal fan…
do you think ManU will lose so easily lol

  31. Hehe, nice to see the Utd – Arsenal rivalry boiling up again after a couple of quiet seasons ;-D

  32. For some reason, Man United v Arsenal have become so much larger than Man United v Liverpool. I can still remember the days when we treated it as another three days in the bad. How times have changed.

This time around, I still don’t see Arsenal doing the double on Man United. Arsenal, be prepared but MU is no Liverpool and if Gerrard playing on Flamini nearly cost you the game, just think what Tevez will do. But it’s the same for Hargreaves where Fabregas might walk over him, considering his fitness level. The key will be the battle in midfield, and although not as colossal as the vieira keane clash, where the one that won the battle will win the war, it is still key in this match.

Can’t wait for this match, where as a MU fan, I expect them to stand firm and KICK ARSENAL OFF their home stadium and give Wenger and co something to whine about!!!!!!

  33. 30/10/2007 Hetfield

Luckily for you arsenal, i heard that ferdinand is injured and MAY not play next week. However, we got pique who is a talented defender and is up to standard so it should not be a problem…….rooney is better than van persie and tevez and adebayour is about the same……cronaldo is better than fabregas and vidic is way better than the defenders at arsenal AND van der sar is way way better than almunia because of his experience and goalkeeping skills

  34. Arsenal is somewhat gifted with the best chance of the season to win ManU. This being due ManU missing half their first-team starters due to injury. But I doubt it will happen.

As for “kicking us off the park”…If it works, why not?
We’ve had teams playing against us that really get physical (Blackburn for example), and we never complained. It’s part of what makes a team great…to be able to adapt and conquer. Can Arsenal do that? ManU is not a dirty side, but are also not known to play ‘pussy’ football. If that is truly Arsenal’s weakness, then expect a lot of that on your way to the title.

  35. Yea united need to really get stuck in.arsenal can play their cute little passes in their area but as soon as it reaches the united area, hargreaves needs to clear up like a hound dog, anderson and hargo vs flamini and fabregas?hmmm i wont say who i think il come out top!if arsenal are judging themselves on playing liverpool,i gat some words, were not liverpool.were manchester united.infact were a completely different team coz.i think rooney and tevez will unsettle the back four of arsenal.i really do and that could spell bad news!that said its going to be a great game.both sides play nice football, both are on top form.far far far too close to call.

  36. m u will fall 2to1 arsenal

  37. mu we fall to gooners by 2-1becouse de play pace football than united.

  38. 31/10/2007 KingOfZamunda

BobC- when have I ever denied United pull the bully boy tactics on you lot?? Blackburn pull it to good effect on you lot, deny you time on the ball and play route one, Bolton in recet times and of course oursleves, just a tad more flair footed than the two teams mentioned.
Furthermore, I made the point cos it’s getting a bit whingey, it’s something that is cited all the time, almost as if you lot would’ve won the game otherwise?? You lose you lose, no point in whinging thereafter- you lot beat us twice over last season and good on you, you won on the day and happy days, no mention of anything untoward from the United Camp on that one. The point about you lot holding onto it as an achievement still applies far as I’m concerned, it’s the first thing that comes out of all gooners whenever the Man U-Arsenal topic pops up these days.
And you’re asking me to grow up? Fool, you’ve started bleating on about head to head match ups and variables and thing, claiming we beat low/mid level teams to win the title- sheesh, might those be the same low/mid level teams you lost to?? You sure you aint a spotty 14 year old nursing a boner over all of this??

  39. 31/10/2007 KingOfZamunda

And samuel- learn to write in proper sentences dude, can’t tell if you’re talking about moo this and 2to1 odds on Ass N’ All…
It’s a free for all you lot, have a go gooners are free round these parts and looking for a mincing!! We’ve got Wesley Brown!!!! We’ve got Wesley, we’ve got Wesley, we’ve got Wesley, we’ve got Wesley Brown!!!!

  40. 01/11/2007 dzimbi

KingOfZamunda…you are as biased as you accuse me of being. Please do not perpetrate to be all knowing you pompous bag of faecal matter. We all know that Arsenal is playing better than manchester united. Marginally better but nonetheless better. As a hardheaded manchester fan, im sure it really does bother you that we are better with a much younger side. Dont hate the player, hate the game fag.

I wont go on about 06/07 season this, that. I wont waste my time on you. Il let the soccer do the talking on saturday then we will see if you can muster up the courage to spew anything else on this thread…self righteous prick…

  41. 01/11/2007 KingOfZamunda

dzimbi- Arsenal ARE playing better than Manchester United, not ‘is’ as you so illiterately put it. And I’m a bag of faecal matter? Faecal matter implying that I’m a colostomy bag? Think you’ll find your mum wears one of those, it split on me when we were copulating.. Yes, I was high, fug that I wouldn’t have gone down that road if I wasn’t!!!
And damn skippy, bring on Saturday, win, lose or draw- your team are Arsenal, hardly a patch on Manchester United, colossal force in world football that we are. You lot did the double/double did you not? Hmmm, nice.
And fug that all over again, n o other team’s performance, supposed brilliance or even success bothers me, Arsenal could otherwise be known as Dingo Balls & Cum FC, I would not give a flying fug- I don’t base United’s success or competance on other teams, we set the standards bitch, you lot still have a long long way to go. Everyone has, even Chelski, regardless of their billions and recent success, none of you lot have our heritage, our success, our business & growth potential- you keep knocking em out over your, ahem, ‘young’team boyo.
    Nuff Said.

  42. 01/11/2007 Tigger

guys take it easy, its only a game…

dont bring ur parents into it lol…

i think all of us fans are very protective about our respective clubs and we never seem to agree to anyone else’s opinion…. Yes, Arsenal are playing great, and Yes Manutd are playing great too…. I’m so scared of Man Utd right now… I think they can beat us on saturday… but im hardly ever optimistic…

lets just hope its a fair game and one that keeps me on the edge of my seat.. i know it will..

    Go Gooooooners..!!

  43. 01/11/2007 There's only 1 Keano

Fair point Tigger, but the only one rather feels it’s much more than just a game. This is strength vs strength, this messes with your emotions, it can take you from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.Imagine you thrash ManUtd 3-0 you’ll be screaming till Jesus returns.Fortunately ManUtd won’t let that happen and i rather think that i’ll be the one screaming till i turn blue!!!

3-1 to United whose with me

  44. 01/11/2007 Tigger

yes i will be…. and i’ll be sad for a whole week if we end up losing like that……. but i wont come and curse off at you! get civilized… i can appreciate all of you coming here and giving some good opinions, but about 90% of the people just talk rubbish, having no concept of the game… e.g. theres an individual on the other post who has his arsenal lineup and has eboue at right back… lol, surely he hasnt been watching arsenal play this season…

and then theres this man utd fan who wants them to play a 3-5-2 against arsenal… thats just senseless, and very very funny..!!

anyway, lets hope for a fair match come saturday..!! you guys do seem to forget that the emirates is a fortress for us now, just like old trafford is for you… so dont be that optimistic… Go gooners!!!

  45. My prediction and just my prediction…u all can write what u want. I think arsenal will win with a 2 goal margin, so I predict arsenal 2-0 manu or arsenal 3-1 manu.

  46. i am baffled at some suggestions that united beat arsenal only when we resort to rough tactics..it happened once and that waz the 2-0 at old traford..why do people forget the 4-2 at highbury when we played arsenal off the park or the fa cup final when we battered them for 120 minutes..

  47. The Gunners going to win this game for surely. These MAN UTD not good enough to beat us.FABREGAS to score hat-trick in this game.Come On Gunners.Make the RED CARTOONS cry.THE GUNNERS FOR EVER!!!

United start fast. United take the lead, 0-1. Arsenal have more possession (they keep possession of the ball better than any other side in the league), but United are exceptional on the counter attack. Both sides miss great chances. Arsenal becoming desperate. Then with 15 minutes to go, Arsenal hit back, 1-1. Last 10 minutes, it’s anyone’s game. Arsenal on the attack, believe they can win it. United on the break, are still dangerous. Which team will edge it? Can one player, amongst so many great players on both sides, find that little bit extra, the inspiration to take all three points? Then, it happens. The decisive moment in injury time. “It’s there [.....] has scored! He’s got the goal to win the game! There’s the final whistle, [......] have won! They go three points clear at the top.”

Guys, we will just have to wait and see to find out what really happens on the day. One thing’s for sure, for both Arsenal and United: win, lose or draw it will not be the end of the race for the title. Just an early instalment. There will be many more twists and turns to come. Neither side might end up with the Premier League title. Do not write off Chelsea. At last, Shevchenko is beginning to look the part. Chelsea will not be far off in the final shake-up.

Let’s enjoy the game, respect the teams, their managers and the other side’s supporters. Let football be the winner, on the field as well as off it.

much has been said bout this game so far, and i agree the fixture cant get any better than this.
we all know arsenal has transformed to a liverpool(depending on 1 player)-fabregas in this case who in my opinion Hargo will be on him like a hungry bear and suffocate all his place frustrating him and rendering him useless and that kills off arsenal(lets not forget his temper).
i would luv to talk bout manutd’s attack(rooney,giggs/nani,ronaldo,anderson) but i’ll let them do the talking tomorrow at emirates but monday i will be here to summarise what it is they said..
instead of bringing meaningfull discusions the goners in this forum have already started complaining and giving excusses as to why they will lose the game.
arsenal will score the 1st goal then man utd will come up in the same fashion(ask any villa fan what fashion)
suggested topic for next week..”why gooners lost” so that all the gooners fans can come wnd whine there, peace

  52. I’m actually wondering what happened to all the people that wrote Sheva off. Where are those people that said he is shit? I still maintain, once both he and Drogba are on fire, we are all going to have hell to keep them at bay. I think they will be more deadly than Rooney/Tevez :-(

Shevchenko has found an extra half-yard since Mourinho has left, and it’s not all just in his head, although having a new manager who values him, helps. Since Mourinho left, Sheva has been having sprinting lessons from Olympic champ Darren Campbell. He had wanted to do this for some time to improve his speed and acceleration off the mark, but Mourinho blocked it – not wanting outsiders to interfere with his coaching/training methods.

Shevchenko, who seemed to be treading water all last year and earlier this season, is looking quicker, hungrier and more confident. I agree that if Shevchenko can regain form and work with an in-from Drogba that will be a pretty lethal and more physically intimidating combination than Rooney/Tevez, although the Chelsea front men will not be as pleasing on the eye to watch as the United duo.
