14 goals, 10 games – Arsenal Eye Move for £7m Goal Machine
Yesterday, we reported that Liverpool are plotting a move for Kostas Mitroglou and are preparing a bid of £7m for the Greek goal-machine. The Greek striker is also targeted by fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal and Inter Milan, as per reports from Italian website Calciomercato.com.
Well, Arsene Wenger recently stated that his side is well capable of challenging for the league honours without any new striker in January, but one gets the feel that Arsenal need a striker to take off the burden from the shoulders of Olivier Giroud.
The 25-year-old is a goal-machine. He has bagged four hat-tricks this season already, scored 14 goals in 10 league games for Olympiakos and further added six in his last seven games for his country. On top of it, he would cost between £7-9m, much less than any other good striker would cost in January.
Therefore, a move for Mitroglou makes sense. Giroud will still be the main striker at the club while the Greek star can play a role of second fiddle perfectly. He would add an extra dimension to the side, though the Gunners could face a tough competition from Liverpool, as the Reds are also heavily interested in him.
