Arsenal are set to offer a new long-term contract to their Spanish right-back Hector Bellerin.

According to Daily Mirror, the player is attracting interest from European heavyweights Barcelona and Manchester City. Apparently, Manchester City contacted Arsenal in the summer regarding the player and were told that the Spaniard is not for sale.

But Arsenal are ready to tie the player down to a long-term deal as soon as possible.

The report from Mirror adds that Arsenal have already informed the player’s representatives of their interest and are ready to begin talks over the new deal right after the international break.

Bellerin has been a key member of the Arsenal starting lineup over the last 15 months and is arguably one of the best attacking full-backs in England right now.

It is easy to see why Arsenal are so desperate to hold on to him. Bellerin is already a very good player and is only 21. The Spanish defender has all the tools to become a world class player in future and therefore keeping him at the club would be a major coup.

Arsenal have lost some of their brightest talents (Nasri, Fabregas) over the years before they reached their peak and it seems that Wenger is not keen on extending that record.

Mirror add that Arsenal are prepared to offer him a significant pay rise in order to convince him to sign a long-term contract.

Furthermore, contract talks with Ozil and Sanchez are underway as well and the London giants are hoping to seal the deal with their attacking duo soon.
