Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The highly talented central midfielder has attracted a lot of interest from several European clubs including Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City.

But according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the London club are closing in on the Swiss international and are willing to pay 30 million Euros for his services this summer. The player is also interested in playing for the Gunners according to the report.

Recently, German newspaper Bild reported that Xhaka has 80% chance of joining Arsenal or Liverpool this summer.

Xhaka is a powerful box-to-box midfielder who can operate as a deep-lying playmaker or a defensive midfielder as well. The Swiss midfielder will add much-needed steel to Arsenal’s midfield and provide them with quality and depth in that department.

The Gladbach midfielder is one of the best players in Bundesliga right now and would be a massive upgrade on the likes of Arteta, Rosicky, Elneny. Given the type of opponent, Xhaka could also be an upgrade on the likes of Coquelin and Ramsey.

The report from Fichajes also states that Wenger plans to move for a striker after signing Xhaka. The Frenchman is looking to sign the likes of Benzema and Aubameyang this summer.

Daily Mail are reporting that both Arsenal and Gladbach are expecting the move to go through and Xhaka is on the brink of becoming an Arsenal player this summer. The announcement of the transfer might be delayed till July according to Mail’s report.
