Premier League giants Arsenal have set their sight on signing Leicester City’s midfield engine N’Golo Kante, with Arsene Wenger looking to bolster his midfield department this summer.

Kante was beaten to the PFA and FWA player of the year awards by his club team-mates Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, but he has been equally pivotal behind Leicester’s maiden Premier League title triumph.

The 25-year-old made a £5.6m move to the Premier League from French side Caen last summer, and has turned out to be one of the signings of the season.

Initially thought his slight frame was unsuited to the physicality of English football, but soon he silenced his doubters through tremendous hard work and dedication.

Kante is a midfield engine whose phenomenal drive from the midfield has been a key factor behind Leicester’s Premier League glory this season. His defensive contribution has been immense for the Foxes. Their success has been built around soaking pressure, converting defence into an attack, and hitting opposition on the counter. Kante has been colossal in the middle, and without his tireless efforts, Vardy and Mahrez wouldn’t have enjoyed rich success.

With Mikel Arteta and Flamini likely to leave the club, Wilshere remains perennially injured, and Cazorla’s long term future in doubt, Arsenal are looking to reshape the midfield in the summer. Kante has made more tackles and won more interceptions than any other player in the Premier League. With Wenger looking to add someone who will anchor the midfield adding steel and grit to the side, it makes sense why he wants Kante to join his squad in the summer.

According to reports from French publication RMC, Arsenal have met with the player’s representatives and were told the Frenchman has a €25m release clause on his contract.

Arsenal are happy to meet the valuation, but so are other top Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City. Claudio Ranieri said that he won’t sell any of his star players in the summer, but the Italian could be forced to sell and we could see Kante in a Chelsea shirt next season if the London club comes in with an outrageous offer.
