Arjen Robben dives for Chelsea’s cause

Is Mourinho going to say that Manchester United have all the luck this season because Robben got a yellow card for his poorly-executed dive for Chelsea?

I know how such occasions can turn into unnecessary club-bashing or player-bashing sessions, so all I’m going to raise here are two points:

1. Chelsea as a club need to be more responsible for stamping out diving – just like all the clubs need to do as well.

2. Post-match reviews to catch diving and cheating are a good thing – not all cases are as clearcut as we had in the Chelsea v Porto game. However it can turn into a witch-hunt because there is plenty of doubt and the question of intent always comes into mind.

If contact can be established (or if there is sufficient doubt that there was no contact), and if intent to dive (win a foul) can be established as well, then we have a case where post-match reviews can get players booked for diving.

Here’s the Robben dive:

And what about his goal? Will Mourinho repeat we were lucky to win at Lille with Giggs’ goal?

Ahmed, The thing you are missing is, us chelsea fans know he is known to dive, BUT we admit it, and hate that part of his game, he hasnt dived in ages, lets just put cristiano on the pedastall and you will be shouting all day ‘yeah he is soo good’ etc etc, yeah great player, even better diver, dont see you writing articles on how he dived at the riverside or how he dived against tottenham, or how he dives week in week out, robben dived yesterday YES well spotted, some consistancy in your reports including the team you support would be good, but we are never gonna get it from a fridge like you.

When you’re done ranting, do yourself a favor and try reading the site – you’ll find plenty of examples where i call ronaldo (a player i dont like btw) and others (including players I like, e.g. becks and gerrard and henry) on their diving.

Then try watching football, because if you say robben doesn’t dive week in week out, and if you think united fans put ronaldo on a pedestal, you’re dead wrong on both accounts.

This video is why I don’t respect CR as a sportsman. Robben is an established diver, he’s light-weight and knows can simulate quite well, and he’s even been booed at the bridge for it…. but like you said Ahmed, many do it and a witch-hunt is pointless…. But CR is on an other level of being dirty….

    lmao…

I didnt see the vid at first, thinking that you’d linked to the Ronny dive in United’s game against Lille.

But since your comment sounded too much like bait, I went ahead and just checked the video.

if you’re only going to comment to piss on the player…what’s the point?

Whole other level of being dirty? Right…

Robben got booked. What did I miss? No-one complained about the booking, so what’s the question you’re asking?

“Is Mourinho going to say that Manchester United have all the luck this season because Robben got a yellow card for his poorly-executed dive for Chelsea?”

    No.

I have absolutely no idea what point you’re trying to make. Do you?

I believe you now owe me 20 seconds of my life. I’d ie it back please.
