Italy manager Antonio Conte has agreed a deal to take over at Chelsea and is expected to hand in his resignation as the Italian national team manager later today.

According to the Daily Mail, Conte has agreed a £6m-a-year contract at Chelsea.

The Italian football federation are meeting in Florence today afternoon and Conte’s departure will be confirmed. Chelsea are expected to announce the deal soon.

The former Juventus manager will take over as the long term replacement for Jose Mourinho. Conte has won 3 titles with Juventus and will be expected to rebuild the London club just like he did with the Italian giants.

Interim manager Guus Hiddink will leave the club at the end of the season.

Chelsea have had a season to forget and are already out of every cup and the Premier League title race. The Blues are unlikely to finish in top four this season and are set to miss out on next season’s Champions League.

Antonio Conte’s first real challenge would be to get Chelsea back in the Champions League.
