French striker Anthony Martial has expressed his delight at Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the new Manchester United manager.

Martial joined United last summer for a reported £36m fee from Marseille and impressed in his first season at Old Trafford.

The French youngster is currently on on international duty, representing France in Euro 2016.

United have appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager following a disappointing 2015/16 campaign under Louis van Gaal.

“We know that Mourinho is a great coach, one of the best in the world,” said Martial in a news conference ahead of France’s game against Scotland in Metz on Saturday.

Reports in media suggest that Mourinho has been working to bring Swede forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the club.

When asked to comment whether Mourinho could lure Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford, Martial replied:

“If Zlatan was to come, it would be really good. He’s a great striker, he will bring us experience.”

Ibrahimovic has scored 38 times for Paris Saint-Germain in 31 league appearances last season but he has confirmed that he won’t play for the Parisian club next season, leading to a wild speculation on his future.

When asked recently to comment on his future plans, Zlatan said that he would only do so when he became bored on speculation.

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan says that Edison Cavani, who has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United, may be a good target for a Premier League club this summer.

“If he’s not playing regularly, then yes [he should leave PSG],” Forlan told ESPN FC’s Andy Mitten.

“He’s a good player who scores consistently, he should be playing regularly. Maybe Zlatan Ibrahimovic going will change things for him, but Cavani is a top player. He has all the attributes. He scores, he’s quick, he shoots with both feet, he’s good in the air. Maybe he’d be good in England.”

Cavani has ensured PSG fans that he would first hold talks with PSG boss Laurent Blanc this summer before deciding on his future. The Uruguayan striker joined Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli in 2013 for €60m but hasn’t produced his best form for the club, with Zlatan being consistently favoured ahead of him.
