AndersonManchester United have confirmed their midfielder Anderson will miss the club’s pre-season tour to US due to a calf injury.

The Brazilian was not included in the squad list, which was announced by the Red Devils earlier on Friday. The club has now confirmed the 26-year-old picked up an injury during the training session.

“Anderson sustained a calf injury during pre-season training and has subsequently not joined Louis van Gaal’s travelling squad for this summer’s Tour 2014, presented by Aon,” United’s mentioned in the statement released in their official website.

“The Manchester United midfielder will remain at the Aon Training Complex where he will continue his rehabilitation ahead of the 2014/15 season, which kicks off on Saturday 16 August when the Reds face Swansea City at Old Trafford.”

Anderson spent the second half of last season on-loan at Fiorentina, where he failed to impress. After having a disappointing spell in the Serie A, the Brazilian midfielder will returned to Old Trafford earlier this summer.

He now joins Michael Carrick in the list of causalities, even before the start of the pre-season. The England international suffered an ankle injury during the training earlier this week and will be sidelined for close to three months.
