Louis van Gaal and Manchester United may be without Ander Herrera for the weekend’s game against Everton.

The Spanish midfielder suffered a back injury in their 2-1 win against West Ham at the weekend and it appears to be more serious than initially thought.

Ander Herrera was substituted in the 74th minute and could add to the growing list of injuries at Old Trafford.

The Guardian have reported that United had a planned statement on the clubs’ official website due to go live on Monday night but it has been postponed due to fears the injury is worse than initially thought.

On his Facebook page, the Spanish midfielder posted “Three very important points! I hope my back is fine soon. Thanks for your messages!” on Saturday night.

Manchester United are now sweating over his condition ahead of Sunday’s clash against Everton at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney will be suspended for the first of three matches for his red card against West Ham last weekend.

Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Michael Carrick, Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and James Wilson are all currently suffering from injuries.  Tyler Blackett is available again after suspension.
