On-loan Chelsea defender, Andreas Christensen, has revealed that he is open to a Chelsea return if he can play regularly.

The Danish centre-back is playing for Borussia Monchengladbach now and has attracted a lot of interest with his splendid performances in the Bundesliga. Christensen ended up being Monchengladbach’s player of the year last season.

Earlier this summer there were reports that Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City are all interested in the Chelsea defender.

Speaking to the media in Germany, Gladbach’s director, Max Eberl, has confirmed that the player plans to return to Chelsea if they can offer him regular first-team football next season. He also maintained that keeping the player will be very tough once the current loan deal expires.

He said: “We probably won’t buy him. It’s going to be a lot of work but there, but I still have hope there’s something I can do. Maybe there’s a different way of keeping him here.

According to Eberl, Christensen said: “If I can be a Chelsea regular, then I’ll go back.

The 20-year-old has the potential to become a world-class player in the future and it seems highly unlikely that Chelsea will let go of him in the summer. Furthermore, Conte’s desire to sign a defender is no secret. He made moves for Bonucci and Koulibaly during the summer transfer window. Bringing back Christensen would solve most of his defensive problems.

Christensen has three years left on his Chelsea contract and the Denmark star, who joined Chelsea from Brondby back in 2012, is expected to partner the highly talented Kurt Zouma at the heart of Conte’s defence for years to come.
