Ancelotti On Potentially Replacing Capello: “Why Not?”

Chelsea’s Carlo Ancelotti has indicated he may be interested in replacing Fabio Capello as England manager in 2012.

Capello will step down from the international job after the Euro 2012 championships, and even though Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Redknapp is favourite to replace, Ancelotti see’s no reason why foreign managers like himself shouldn’t manage England. Speaking to The People, he stated:

“I’ve never been a coach of a national team but I would like to do it in the future, to have this kind of experience.

Maybe Redknapp doesn’t like foreign coaches for the national team, but if you ask me about England, I can say ‘Why not? Maybe I can propose Harry Redknapp for the Italian national team in the future! Not now, though, because Cesare Prandelli is my friend.”

So should Ancelotti become the next England manager? His Chelsea record would certainly aid his case, but with Redknapp being a fan favourite for many across England, would the Italian have any chance?
