An update on Manchester United’s loan deals

Not only do Manchester United now have 7 strikers at their disposal (no Fernando Torres though), but they also have wingers and defenders coming back from their loan deals. Here’s a quick look:

Jonny Evans – returns from Royal Antwerp, heads back out to Sunderland for the rest of the season.

Ryan Shawcross – defender, leaves behind United reserves to take up Evans’ place at Royal Antwerp.

Frazier Campbell – striker, extends his loan period at Antwerp till the end of the season.

Danny Simpson – defender, big hit amongst Manchester United fans, back at Old Trafford. Likely to go out again on loan.

Darron Gibson – promising midfielder, still out on loan at Antwerp.

Dong Fangzhuo – Chinese international striker who got his work permit cleared up late last year, comes back from RA and is raring to go for Manchester United. Haven’t seen much of him though, pre-season apart.

Lee Martin – Talented winger comes back from Rangers (where a big mess is brewing) and is likely to be loaned out again to Sunderland.

Phil Bardsley – Important times for the right-back. He’s been around the Manchester United setup for almost as long as David Jones, and if he’s not up to the level of what Ferguson expects, he could be another exit (either in January or next summer). Brown’s a better right-back so far.

Chris Eagles – Back from NEC Nijmegen, apparently Manchester United still havent figured out what to do with him. Old reserve teamer, could be jettisoned soon.

Giuseppe Rossi – Along with Gerard Pique, perhaps the most promising player out on loan. Unlike Pique though, Rossi is back at Old Trafford and will line up with Rooney, Saha, Ole and Larsson in providing the goals for Manchester United.

Henrik Larsson – The big man will get a shot at English football in the FA Cup 3rd round tie against Aston Villa. Can he crack it? Logic says he’s past it, heart says this is Manchester United’s year, and Larsson could end up showing Sheva how it’s done.

Calling Henrik a “big man” is misstating things a bit, don’t you think? I’ve seen him in person, and the 5’10″ he’s listed at is *generous*, nevermind the fact that he’s as slight as Cescbregas.

I really want to see Henrik Larsson back in action again .. Its been a while.

Also i don’t understand this oppsesion SAF has with Fernando Torres, the only good Spanish Striker out there is David Villa.

Danny Simspon won’t go back on loan, he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

I’m really hoping Rossi can cut it. Perhaps he should be given a run-out on Sunday for the FA cup.

I also cannot understand the obsession with Torres, but even more so, I cannot understand people’s obsession with Owen Hargreaves. Do the MU fans realise that when we sign him, it will effectively mean the death of 4-4-2 ? Think about it realistically, should MU pay 15mil for OH, there is no way that SAF will make him “sit on the bench”. By paying 18mil for Carrick, he cannot “sit on the bench either”. Scholes is having a brilliant time as the playmaker, so he also cannot sit on the bench. This leaves us with a formation where we deploy 3 central midfielders (just like Chelsea). Our problem with the 4-5-1 (4-3-3) system was never about poor defending, or possession, or not creating chances, it was always about not being able to convert our goalscoring chances by the 1 striker up front. How is that going to change by adding OH to the midfield?

    on ur comment about larsson…
the mind also does not say that hez past it coz in may he was at it and ronaldinho gave a statement that tis sad to see him leave when he was in such fine form and could give the clb at least another 2-3 years…….
he’ll defiinetely show sheva coz unlike jose… SAF is not stupid enough to change the shape of his team to fit him in.. he’ll keep him there up front where he perform the best and the rest of the team knows how to play.

Never really thought about how Hargreaves might upset the balance of United, but Scholes is aging fast and might not have enough to play week in week out. But a Hargreaves-Carrick future central midfield patnership is not exactly the strongest pair, compared to Lampard-makelele or Fabregas-Gilberto…What Man U need is a playmaker, Riquelme?

Kai – carrick is a playmaker. That is precisely why you are going for hargreaves, who is a far more dynamic midfielder.

Its a shame we are not in the carling cup anymore because i would love to see the likes of Martin, Eagles, Simpson, Rossi, R Jones, Aaron Burns to have a go. Eagles has done well at all his loans, Rossi and Burns score for fun in the reserves, R Jones looks a better version of D Jones and Martin deserves a look after the mess at Rangers. Oh yeah and Dong, he looks like a natural goalscorer.

Evans is Just pure Quality and will be a great center back for Man Utd one day. He has been a revalation for us….just hope we can keep him which I doubt considering Sir Alex made the lad sign a 4 year contract before he came to us …..

At least were still in the FA cup STeve unlike Bolton who got knocked out by Arsenal and lets hope we can thrash Reading. By the way, I think Dong should make his debut for MAn u soon as hes a great player, only 22 so his future is bright to MAn u
