I also notice my previous comment was deleted, presumably for criticisng Mr Bilal's journalistic credentials.

What a surprise.

If you want to stir the pot, don't be shocked when it spits back at you.

Funny, Koewart, that he not be known in Spain, when he was certainly well known in Bulgaria, or at least well known enough for a certain Mr Berbatov to utterly idolise him.

He was an international striker for one of the biggest countries in world football and he played UEFA cup AND Champions League games many times during his career, of course he is well known across Europe.

What an utterly ridiculous comment to make.

'Don't forget he is a player from the era before the premiership got huge'

What a bizarre comment - I think the premiership was quite well known 2 years ago....

Shearer a legend across Europe? I think that's a exaggeration, I think most players in, for instance, Spain barely know who him or don't know him at all. Don't forget he is a player from the era before the premiership got huge

I think Shearer would be good. Other managers have made it good with no experience. Keane is doing alright at sunderland, Zola and Southgate have gone straight into premiership jobs, Ince has jumped up quickly.

A number of things also stand in Shearers favour:

1. He was assistant during Roeders end of season after Souness was sacked. We won 10 / 15 and scored 33 pts out of a possible 45, moving from 14th to 7th and qualifying for Europe.
2. He has demonstrated he is a leader on the field at both club and country level with over 10 years combined experience as a team captain.
3. He spent 5 years as Bobby Robson's captain and we all know how much Mourinho learned by merely being Robson's translator.
4. He demonstrates an intelligent understanding of the game when commenting for the BBC.
5. He is a legend across Europe and would attract the top players to a big club like Newcastle.
6. He spent 10 years playing for the club he loves so he knows the place inside out.

Another terrible article about Newcastle from the online equivalent of Viz comic. Newcastle United will be under new ownership as soon as next month there will be no Wise or Ashley and hopefully a new manager and owners who can plan both for the short and longterm benefit of the club.Newcastle United fans dont necessarily want a Geordie or a person with a past connection to NUFC there are many top managers that could do a fine job at the Toon. Alan Shearer is now the fans choice? Who on earth have ou been talking to? More lazy journalism created by misconceptions created in the press!

It would be a good idea for Shearer to gain some experience with another club first. I would not like him to tarnish his image at Newcastle by making a mess of things. Anyway it's surely a far less stressful job, sitting in a T.V. studio chatting and watching the beautiful game! Imagine getting paid for that!

In some cases Newcastle fans are like adolescent girls - they're waiting to be rescued by prince charming, blissfully unaware of how their parents will thrash all comers until it actually happens.

Will she rebel against her parents and not show up at the dinner table? We'll find out next weekend...
