The agent of Ajax star and Manchester United summer target Daley Blind has hinted the Netherlands World Cup star could join Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils appointed Louis van Gaal as their new manager after the Dutchman took over the reigns at Old Trafford – completing World Cup duty with the Netherlands national team.
Blind, who can play as a full-back and a defensive midfielder has been linked with a €22m move to United, while the Catalan club are also interested in signing the 24-year-old. The player’s agent Rob Jansen has confirmed several clubs are interested in securing a deal his client’s signature.
“At the moment there is nothing concrete. But the rumours of today could very well be tomorrow’s reality,” Jansen told Voetbal International.
“There are many clubs interested in Daley. We’ll have to wait and see what happens when the transfer market shakes up.”
At left-back United have signed Luke Shaw earlier in the transfer window, plus Patrice Evra has recently signed a new deal. So adding another left-back would make no sense at this point of time for the Old Trafford club, especially when they are not in the Champions League.
It could have been feasible if Evra join Juventus as the French international has been a transfer target for the Serie A winners. However, Blind can play as a midfielder and that could have been a better option for United.
However, it now looks like Barcelona have won the race in signing the Dutch international.
