Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is expected to leave the club this summer.

The Slovakia international has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield and will continue his career elsewhere with regular first team football.

The centre back’s agent had already confirmed last month that several clubs are interested in his client and now once again Mithat Halis has claimed the same thing.

Last month, his agent confirmed that the player is “90% certain” to leave the club this summer.

Speaking to the media this week, his agent Mithat Halis said: “Fenerbahce are following him for 4 years, but there are offers from China and Wolfsburg also want him.”

The likes of Lovren, Sakho and Toure were all ahead of Skrtel last season and the arrival of Matic will further limit the Slovakian’s chances at Anfield next season.

Furthermore, there has been a sharp decline in Skrtel’s form. The 31 year old has been responsible for several defensive errors over the last couple of years and is more of a liability than an asset nowadays.

A move away from Liverpool would benefit all parties involved. Skrtel would get more game time at another club and Liverpool will successfully get rid of a fringe player who is on astronomical wages. Skrtel has spent nine years at Anfield but the time has come for the club and the player to part ways.
