Agent confirms Manchester United interest in Chelsea target

The agent of Brazilian Lucas Silva has told Brazilian press that Manchester United are interested in the youngster.

Reports in British press earlier this week suggested that Manchester United were interested in the 21-year old. The Daily Star claiming Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in the player.

Lucas Silva’s agent however says that there has been interest from Manchester United and Italian Serie A side Internazionale. The two London Premier League sides were not mentioned in his quote from Superesportes:

“There aren’t many details. I confirm I was contacted by people linked to Manchester United and Inter Milan. There are no official bids. We are waiting.”

Brazilian outlet, Lancenet had more quotes from Silva’s agent:

“Lucas is a very humble kid. He is 21 years old and has an amazing maturity. He doesn’t get carried away because this type of speculation. We also advise him, even knowing that he is aware of it.

“What we’ve got so far are speculations. We didn’t receive any bids for him. These speculations are the result of Lucas’ work. He has excelled, so this kind of news show up.

“If we receive an interesting offer for Cruzeiro and a winning project for Lucas, we can think about the transfer. He is happy at the club, because a winning project was developed here.”

Manchester United have so far made three transfers under new manager Louis van Gaal this summer – Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao, Luke Shaw from Southampton and Marcos Rojo from Sporting Club.

Lucas Silva came through the ranks at Cruzeiro and is a holding midfielder who likes to spray passes from deep positions. He also likes the occasional long range shot.

The Brazilian was one of star performers at the 2014 Toulon Tournament at the end of May in which the Brazil under-20 side won. Silva scored the winning goal in their 2-1 defeat of England in the group stages. He has since been called up to the under-21 squad.

Lucas Silva already has a few domestic honours to his name with Cruzeiro; winning both the Brazilian league in 2013 and the Campeonato Mineiro in 2014.
