Ade thinks Arsenal fans are idiots

Written by Ahmed Bilal

Ade thinks Arsenal fans are idiots

Let’s get the praise out of the way – Adebayor is Arsenal’s best chance for scoring goals this season and has been since the start of last season and maybe even since the season before that. With RVP’s problems last year, without Ade Arsenal would have struggle to get to where they were in the league.

Off the field, Adebayor is a moron. He flip-flops on every issue, talking about staying at Arsenal unconditionally one minute and talking about contract problems the next. Now, after signing a new contract, keeping his head down for a few months and working on winning back the Arsenal fans’ trust, he’s gone and blown it again.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Money is killing the spirit of the game. I don’t want to mention a name here, but good players are made to be in a great team.

And most of the players are not in a bad team, but they are not in their right place or position. Money is killing football because some people are making the decision because of money.

If I had made my decision because of money, I would not be at Arsenal. I would have been in Milan or Barcelona. You know how I could be earning a lot more money than I am earning here.

I made my decision because I love playing for Arsenal and don’t regret anything.”

Not only is he lying, he’s also expecting that everyone listening / reading would conveniently forget his exact words and actions during the summer. Adebayor could not move because Arsenal asked for a lot of money, which directly impacted the clubs’ ability to pay for him AND pay him the salary he was asking for. It WAS about the money, except that he had no decision to make, the decision was effectively made for him by Arsene Wenger.

He’s not done yet…

“I think I’ve won the fans back and they can’t ask me to do any more. I’m fighting for the team, I love playing for Arsenal and at the moment we’re in good shape.

I’ve done quite well in my career so far, but I’m still empty-handed. I now want to fill my hands with trophies, which is the reason I stayed at Arsenal. I want to repay them.

It didn’t hurt me when the fans booed as I knew what had been happening and that I’m an innocent guy. If they booed me and I didn’t know why, I’d be upset.

But I knew people had been saying I was leaving and wanted to leave, so I understood. But it never came from me and there’s no-one that can say today ‘Adebayor told me he wanted to leave’.

I decided to stay at Arsenal, told the boss I wanted to sign a new contract and eventually we did.”

I’ll leave the obvious contradictions that pop up in every sentence and just focus on this bit – I now want to fill my hands with trophies, which is the reason I stayed at Arsenal. With due respect to what Wenger is doing at Arsenal, I would rate Barcelona’s chances of succeeding in Europe above Arsenal’s, and Chelsea’s chances of succeeding in the Premier League above Arsenal’s. And that’s before we get to the fact that Wenger forced Adebayor to stay and to sign a contract on Arsenal’s terms, not the other way around.

You’re not fooling anyone Ade. You wanted to leave, you wanted more money, but Wenger didn’t let you go and although you got a new contract, you didn’t get as much money as you wanted.

And if you’re looking to win over the fans, hypocrisy isn’t going to help.

    nice blog!every bit amused me!

Ade needs to learn how to stay onside if he wants the fans back behind him. Every game he strays offside (4 of 5 times a game). If money is so important to him, he should be fined every time he goes offside. Going offside all the time, is down to being lazy and not using your eyes. Come on Ade put the effort in to stay onside. This way the moves flow & don’t break down. We know you can score goals, but the number of offsides we see before each goal is a joke.

  3. Ade should stop feeling like a star b/c he has not played like one,& dis will end when eduardo comes back

  4. 25/10/2008 Super K

Arsene cld’ve considered him expandable..and Arsene might’ve told him tht. Wht tht means is, Arsene tells Ade if there is an over the top offer, you might go.. So the logic thing for Ade to do is to be mum about his commitment towards the club during the preceedings.
Ade is level headed and… well I just think it’s about time we behave like adults and get over this one…
And he’s dead frigging right. Money is killing the game..

  5. 25/10/2008 Slippery When Wet

Greedybayor he should keep his big lips shut – noone who did what he did should lecture anyone about money. He has had two huge pay rises in 18 months and your analysis of why he stayed is spot as far as I am concerned.

He has played like he doesn’t care for much of this season – he is the only player Arsenal have in his type of role – able to play lone striker.

I wonder who he is referring to here? He has someone in mind! Maybe Cesc and the new contract rumours???

“Money is killing the spirit of the game. I don’t want to mention a name here, but good players are made to be in a great team.”

This sentence makes me think of Bentley! Rather than any Arsenal player

“And most of the players are not in a bad team, but they are not in their right place or position.”

Basically with Greedybayor I expect him to try and ransom the club again in the summer – I just hope he plays well enough that Arsenal can get a fortune from him and invest that in a replacement

At the end of the day, Ade is still playing for us. Can’t you guys just get over it? Whoever plays for us now we just cheer him on and stop moaning about off the field issues. Please do not write this kind of petty blogs anymore because it wouldn’t help the fans and Arsenal.

  7. 25/10/2008 aladdin

remember “pay me like henry and ill play like henry”. guy is a knob hed

  8. 25/10/2008 twogun

for @*#!’s sake, can you please shut it with the anti ade comments/blogs/dissertations. i am not his biggest fan, and am far from convinced that he is the total package. however, he has on an arsenal shirt and is our player end of. grow up and get over it. if you think that in the modern game every player is loyal, you are setting yourself up for repeated heartache. stop dividing the fans. who are youn carl rove?

  9. 26/10/2008 Danish Gooner

So everyone should stick their head in the sand is that what you are saying Funky Kolo???The fact is that ade doesnt give a shite about what shirt he wears Spurs,Arse,Barca or whatever as long as he gets a shitload of money so that makes him a mercenary and a mercenary will never ever be as committed to the the cause as someone bleeding the shirt that is another fact.Does he really believe just because he says so that all is fine a dandy ??? What a moron !!!!!

  10. 26/10/2008 NicktheGooner

what is wrong with you people?? the amount of lies that the british media make up is evident every single day YET u decide to beleve them? i for one beleve adebayor did not once say the words i want to leave arsenal.

just the other week the media tried to sabotage arsenal yet again, by saying that cesc refused to sign a new contract so that he could leave for barcalona. cesc came out the very next day saying these reports are bullshit.

true adebayor did not come out and deny these claims like cesc did, and maybe he should have, but i beleve ade did not want to leave arsenal. why do you chose to beleve some lies and not others? YOU are the idiots, not ade.

  11. 26/10/2008 Obinna

Its OK if its Cesc but a mortal sin when its Adebayor! Ade is still playing and most importantly scoring for the club, so all nay sayers should please shut up and get in line!!!

  12. 26/10/2008 Donjohnni

All these fools saying “stop anti-Ade comments” can kiss my hairy ass. Jesus Christ, what a load of twoddle. Don’t you dare be so arrogant as to force your opinion on me. “He wears the Arsenal shirt, so let’s cheer him”. Oh – great logic there. So if Hitler wears an Arsenal shirt I should cheer him.

Let’s be honest, Wenger is the best manager in the world. Other teams have more cash. He has set high standards. Some of the players he signed are wankers. Let’s express ourselves!

  13. 26/10/2008 Super K

Owh grow up… This is so naive. Let bygones be bygones. Why don’t we bring up Vieira and Henry and they’re promises?…
Hleb and Flamini are gone, Ade is here. That’s all that matters from now on.

  14. 26/10/2008 Harry Squirrels

About Ade…Who gives a crap what he has to say. He is obviously not the brightest person, but how many pro athletes are? He seems to at least try to say the right thing. Being offsides is a small issue but that is what good strikers do. They walk that thin line until they hit it just right and are all of a sudden one on one with the keeper (See the Fenerbache game for example).

Take everything players say with extra salt as it comes from a dumb mules mouth and is then filtered through the incredibly distorting lens of the British media.

  15. get over it. If there was a proper list of the players that hunted around for a bigger contract every single off-season, you’d lose your head in anger. It’s a fact of the game..

  16. On Emanuelle Avtepaymor,

    Barcelona = more money
    Barcelona = more trophies
    Barcelona = more ambition
    Barcelona = bigger club

Today’s times in football has every player aiming to play for Barcelona as his first priority. Yes he is money motivated like every man/woman in their line of work but because this business has a passionate fan base, we are blaming the player and the truth is Arsenal won’t pay what Barcelona will – not their fault either. Infact, turning all of this on its head, he has just been honest. Where he failed is talking to the press and upsetting Arsenal fans…..one of which is me and so for that I will follow suit and call him

    Emanuelle Avtepaymor

  17. It never ceases to amaze me how many bloggers seem to know exactly what people are thinking and what they mean when they speak. I have no great love for Adebayor and think him to be a slightly above average player but I do object to people like Bilal abusing him from the safety and anonymity of an Internet site. Adebayor is one of those people who is looking to do the best for himself, just like Bilal. If not then why doesn’t he keep his nasty little opinions to himself. Adebayor will move on, probably next summer and someone else will come in. If Bilal takes against them he will write another silly little piece telling us what that player is thinking and what he really means when he speaks. The world will go on turning and Bilal will bask in the glow of his superb sports journalism. People like Bilal are really just leeches. Treat them as such.

  18. Jimbo – thank you for the character reference…

  19. 26/10/2008 iqnadirshah

It was all blown up by his agent and the media. And to be fair, Adebayor never came out and tried to put a stop to any rumours. It was obvious that he was waiting for a good offer. At the end of the day, nothing happened. Hence the fresh rumour about Cesc, which he promptly defused the following day………………….

  20. 26/10/2008 duduabego

jimbo u are spot on about this guy bilal, always has negative things to say about arsenal or their players. meanwhile ROnaldo who is equally as greedy as aDebayor and almost left united for money is not a moron. The idiot Ronaldo is already even claiming the fifa world best player as if its gonna be awarded by his mom or by united fans. if u ask me, this piece by bilal is crap.@ Ahmed show me one player who does not play for more money.

  21. He is right you know. The majority of Arsenal fans are idiots. You just have to looks at some of the stupid “I love Fabregas and Toure I hate Adebayor and Gallas la la la la” posts in here to see that.

  22. 27/10/2008 LondonGooner

Ade[paymemore has atleast proved what we were all thinking….he’s thick as pig shit!

  23. 27/10/2008 Real Gooner

    Great article – provoking reaction.

Most Arsenal fans would actually move on and hope he does win a trophy or more here. After that we will let Wenger decide on what he wants to do with him. In Arsene we trust!

At the moment most fans would rather they had a talent like in him in their side than not.

If Adebayor is the first wantaway that eventually stayed then he is a revelation – alas he is not and every team has at least one. Thats what makes agents busy and wealthy trying to make their client even richer. Ronaldo, Gerrard, Terry anyone???

Try to write an article that is newsworthy – or maybe you just wanted to stoke up some rubbish for some purpose????

  24. All this ‘Ade-hating’ is not gonna benefit anyone.

maybe i’m naiive but i can’t see that many contradictions.
when adebayor said he didn’t ever say he wanted to leave – i can’t actually remember him saying he wanted to leave either. if my mind serves me right, it was more along the line of – “weighing up my options”.

I think u should remember that ade is a human and therefore is entitled to consider what career option is better for him. Am I wrong?

After he considered the options he decided to stay at arsenal – maybe you feel that it was entirely wenger’s doing.

But these things happen all the time – players often have minds (just like everyone else) that causes them to imagine how green the grass is elsewhere. vieira did. so did henry. i don’t remember such hostility towards these examples.

I know (although not why) that there was a hostility towards ade. before this “saga”. all this media-induced rumour has done is given you ade-loathers a half-reason to display your displeasure with him.

so learn to drop it. ade is a vital part of the team and to lose him would leave us a player short going into next term. it would be almost impossible to replace his strength combined with skill. i know he isn’t the best finisher – but the fact he still scores like he does just proves that he possesses a natural knack for goals.

  25. what problem is it you have with this guy?
hes giving d team is all anytime he plays,
so whatelse.i think ur just a player hater.

  26. 28/10/2008 BD Condell

Arsenal fans divided, yet again! As for those slating the article…you miss the point. The point is on Blogs is to write something that provokes debate, controversy and generates passion, or, at least, a response whatever that may be.
Job well done in this case.
