Adam Johnson frustrated but determined after lack of starts for Manchester City

Manchester City winger Adam Johnson has made it clear that he is frustrated due to the fact that he has been sat on the bench continuously for Manchester City.

The England international who has highly impressed with England and during his time on the pitch with City has found a difficulty in cementing his position in the first eleven, and Johnson believes its disappointing knowing that he was man of the match at Blackburn, but hasn’t started a game yet.

Adam is currently with the national side preparing for the Tuesday game against Montenegro, and Johnson would be hoping for a third successive win to continue their impressive run to the Euro 2012.

On Sunday, Johnson will be part of the squad that takes on Blackpool, and he will be hoping to see his name on the starting line-up sheet.

“I was very disappointed to lose my place after I was man of the match against Blackburn and I haven’t started a Premier League game since,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

“That is hard for me, but we have a great squad here and the manager makes the decisions – you just have to deal with them.

“The competition for places is tough. We have world-class players and the big signings who have come in have made it even harder, but I am prepared for the fight.”

Although not starting games, Johnson has proved to be a very energetic substitute, scoring goals when City most needed them, and that’s one thing that pleases the youngster.

“I have been playing well and my form hasn’t dropped at all, so I am just looking forward to a start.

“Coming on and scoring against Newcastle was magnificent.

“The fans were singing my name to come on sooner, which is nice.”
