AC Milan confirm deal in place to land Barcelona’s Ibrahimovic

AC Milan last night confirmed that they will be signing Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish star has already agreed a four-year contract worth €6m, and after spending this season on loan with the Rossoneri, Ibrahimovic will join the club permanently next summer for a fee of €24m.

Ibrahimovic will undergo a medical on Monday, after which the deal will be finalized, and he will return to the San Siro only a year after leaving Inter for a blockbuster move to Barca.

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said, “We have agreed a deal for a season’s loan and then the right to buy for €24m.”

“He will undergo a medical on Monday and sign a four-year contract.”

Ibrahimovic spoke excitedly to Sky Italia about his impending move. “I’m really happy. Everything has been solved in a positive way.

“Now I come back to the city of Milan but with another team.

“They are an important side and with a big tradition.

“The attack is fantastic. I hope to win the Champions League and everything.”

In his lone season at the Nou Camp, Ibrahimovic scored 21 goals and assisted on 10 more in 44 appearances, including appearances in the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEDA Super Cup. Prior to that, he scored 66 goals in 116 appearances in three seasons for Inter, leading the club to three straight Serie A titles.

Just as the arrival of David Villa at Barca this summer made Ibrahimovic expendable, the arrival of Ibrahimovic at AC Milan sets the way for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to leave after failing to fully hit the mark in his lone season at the club. The Dutch international will link up with former Real Madrid teammate Raul at Schalke 04, as the German side has agreed a fee of €14m to land the 27-year-old.
