3 April 2010 – 14:00 GMT

AC Milan needs a win to keep their hopes of winning the Scudetto alive as they travel to Cagliari.

Cagliari v AC Milan Preview

AC Milan missed an opportunity to close the gap with Inter Milan to one point but only trail by three points. They are in third place and play 12th place Cagliari on Saturday. Cagliari is safe from relegation and eight back from the last Europa League spot. They have little left to play for but won’t be a walkover for Milan.

Milan does have one of the top away records in the Serie A with a 7-5-3 record. Cagliar’s home record is 7-4-4 at the Stadio Sant’Elia.

It’s a crucial match for AC Milan who do have one advantage of Roma and Inter Milan. The other sides are still involved in other competitions while AC Milan can focus solely on the Serie A. A win would keep them within three points and possibly close the gap on one of the other sides. A loss could put them six back of Inter and would probably kill their title hopes.

While Cagliari will still play out of pride, the match is much more important to AC Milan. It should be another close match and end in a draw.
