The 27-year-old joined the Portuguese club in July 2012 and has scored 47 goals in 65 games in all competitions. This season he has already netted 12 goals thus far, while his contract runs out in 2016.

“Where would I like to play?” Martinez told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “When I was a child I rooted for Chelsea and Arsenal.

“I think the best championships are La Liga, the Premier League and Bundesliga, which has grown much in recent years. But I also really like Serie A and have many friends in Italy.”

He further added: “My £34million buy-out clause seems a huge amount. In one year my value has exploded. I did not expect to do so well.”

Martinez has had been linked with Blues on number of occasions in the past. The Blues are looking to buy a top class striker in January, as current group of strikers collectively scored only five goals this season.

Likewise, Arsenal also need a strong forward in the winter transfer window. The Gunners are heavily reliant on lone striker Olivier Giroud and there is a need to ease off the burden from his shoulders as well.

Martinez is unwilling to rule out any transfer in the future and but at the moment he is only concentrating with Porto.
