Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a massive blow in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the striker signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund.

His initial contract was set to expire in 2018 at Signal Iduna Park and had attracted interest from both the north London sides. These two clubs need a striker to bolster their strike force and The Independent reports Arsenal and Tottenham were looking to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Aubameyang was valued to be around £30m and he has now committed his future to the Bundesliga outfit. The Gabon international’s new deal with his current employers runs down in 2020.

Dortmund were aware of the growing interest from several European clubs and they have ended the speculation as Aubameyang penned a new deal.

A statement on BVB’s official website read, ” Borussia Dortmund have agreed to prematurely extend the contract of forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been coveted by a number of European clubs, until 30 June 2020. The speedy striker’s initial contract was set to expire in 2018.”

Aubameyang has revealed he had no intentions of leaving the German side and is happy that his future has been resolved.

“I’m absolutely delighted that the next years of my career will be spent at Borussia Dortmund. I feel very happy at the club, in this team and in this city. BVB has become like a second home to me. Every part of me wants to be here and I have never wanted to leave,” Aubameyang said after signing a new deal.
