Luke Shaw has emerged as one of the hottest properties in England this season. The highly rated Southampton left-back has been in sensational form this season and looks a likely candidate for Roy Hodgson’s squad for the World Cup in Brazil, after making his debut for England in February.

The 18-year-old could be the subject of bidding war in the summer, with several heavy weights, including the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, reportedly joining the race to sign him.

Manchester United had a £22.5m bid rejected for Shaw in the January transfer window, but the Daily Telegraph’s Mark Ogden was confident that United will go head-to-head with Chelsea for him in the summer.

Shaw has been repeatedly linked with Chelsea in the past with reports claiming that Jose Mourinho wishes to complete his signing before the World Cup. Liverpool and Manchester City have also taken a keen interest on the defender who would cost in the region of £30m, as he signed a a new five-year deal with Southampton last summer.

Shaw himself admitted a couple of weeks back that he is not bothered with the transfer rumours linking him, but The Guardian reports today that Southampton are likely to start the bidding at around £35m but may have to settle for a fee in the region of £30m.

All of Chelsea, City, United and Liverpool have a vacancy for a left-back but it remains to be seen, how many of them are actually willing to pay such lofty transfer fees for a youngster, no matter how promising he is.
