Can’t argue with the drama & excitement.
But I feel the spectacle was ruined by a shifting and potentially dangerous pitch. It was such a farce it was a dead set disgrace. For goodness sakes, this is the showpiece game of the UEFA Champions League and they couldn’t even provide a decent pitch!

Add to that the ridiculous hour at which the game was played I thought the players from both sides did exceptionally well under disgraceful conditions.
I have never seen so many players cramping up as I did during the extra time. They certainly earned their cabbage that night.

Shaun, I’m not criticising it, I’m just saying that I thought this year was better.

Liverpool may have come back from the dead in ’05 but Milan were by far the better team and as a contest it wasn’t as balamced or exciting as this year.

Analysts and neutrals alike have rated this year as the best final in years so considered yourself defied!

haha last time I had a comment-argumetn with Spiral he was a gooner!

I myself am a Scouser and this isnt bitterness talking I assure you, but the ’05 final was better simply because it is absolutely fantastic. Coming back from 3-0 down, getting battered and you have the cheek to criticize it? BD I’m sure most neutrals would tell you that ’05 was a brilliant spectacle for football, more so than any final since.

Saying that though, as a showcase of Premier League and European talent this years final was superb, and I thoroughly enjoyed it more than any match I have watched this season as a neutral. But to criticize ’05 and say this years was better is quite daft in all fairness, and I defy anybody to disagree with me.

Spiral didn’t watch the game but is still sure ’05 was the best final ever!!
Typical Liverpool bitterness. Call yourself a football fan and you don’t watch the biggest game of the season!!
Milan wiped the floor with Liverpool in ’05 and were robbed.

One of the most undeserving wins in the history of the competition and as a contest it doesn’t come near to this years final.

You didn’t watch ot so you can’t have a valid opinion on the matter.

I didn’t see the game. Didn’t care really. I’m sure it was exciting for all involved, judging by the match reports.

But for a thrill a minute ride nothing can beat the 2005 CL final…Liverpool vs AC Milan. If anything, THAT match deserves to go down as the best final in history.

the game was friggin awesome…. best players 4 united would have 2 of been hargreaves, ferdinand or ronaldo, rooney and brown had awesome first halves but died in the ass in the second

the best 4 chelsea should of been lampard or ballack imo, even john terry was a hero 4 chelsea wen he headed the ball clear after a united shot at goal… 2 bad about the penalty at the end

all in all the best game ive ever watched, united deserved it all the way!!!!!

Yeah value for money. It was like yeah, Manchester United is going to win this year and the very next moment , oh damm this is not manchester united’s year…

The tone was like up and down and up and down till the very last kick of the game.

Kudos for both teams in the final for such an entertaining final. Couldn’t have been better.

Anyway, Glory Glory Man Utd!
